School Programs

The YMCA Outdoor Centre offers a wide variety of residential programs to participants of all ages.  You may choose either a "pre-packaged" program, or you and our program director may work together to design a program from the many "a la carte" program options available.

We offer many program components that are excellent when run independently, and even better as part of a complete program.

In School Program

Air and Water in the Environment - offers a variety of activities that provide a review of the water cycle and an introduction to the ways that air and water are used as energy sources in our communities.

3-day, 2-night Residential Programs

Energy Rescuers -  was designed specifically to meet expectations in the Grade 5 Conservation of Energy Strand. Students learn about energy by participating in many hands-on fun and interesting activities.

Earthkeepers - is an exciting hands-on learning adventure that aims to develop within each individual a value system based on respect for all living things. Grade 5 and 6 students learn about the earth's cycles and our impact on these systems

School of Leaders - helps Grade 7 and 8 students learn about themselves and their role in the classroom and the school community. As students are engaged in a carefully planned progression of experiential activites, they learn leadership skills that are transferable back in school and in the community.

Create-Your-Own Program

We also design programs according to the specific needs of the class(es). Teachers of any grade can work together with our program director to design a schedule that integrates and /or builds on one or more of the following themes.  Check out our variety of activities.
